 What I most look forward to in my Environmental Science class

 I am a science enthusiast. It is something that I constantly instill in my daughters. I enjoy seeing the increase in STEM promotion and awareness for women and little girls. Up until this point, my schedule consisted of basic courses to meet the criteria of my degree plan with such subjects as math, writing, government, etc. Now, I am studying the classes that I have a heavy interest in. Although they may challenge me at times, I am thankful for the opportunity. Some of the things I look forward to in this Environmental Science class are:

  • Learning about the order or outline of the environment and habitats 
  • Learning policies, laws, and regulations that affect our lives and the environment
  • Learning the process of research and data collecting 

This should be a great experience with a wealth of useful knowledge to carry on the rest of my journey towards graduation and transferring to a university.

What I think this class will be about

This class will consist of studying biodiversity and ecosystems. Different life, organisms and how they connect with each other and the environment that they live in. I believe we will also delve into the economics and laws of governing and protecting the environment and wildlife. Since it is humans of course who makes these regulations and policies, we will study the influence and contribution that we make in nature. This class will hopefully educate on conservation and what steps we can take as both an individual and as whole moving forward.

  Problem: Dallas has had a reputation of zoning racism for as long as the slavery emancipation acknowledgement of Juneteenth. You can see this in Paul Quinn College’s map of “Poisoned by Zip Code” (2020).
